About Marlborough House
Marlborough House is a nursing home in Fleet, Hampshire. We care for older people whose needs go beyond what residential care can provide, and we also take respite stays when a family carer needs a break or cover while they recover themselves. Having registered nurses on duty at every hour is what makes this possible. Medication is managed carefully, wound care and long standing conditions are dealt with here rather than through a series of appointments elsewhere, and a change in someone's health tends to be noticed early because the person noticing knows the resident well. We work closely with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we follow things up on a resident's behalf when progress is slow. Clinical care is only half the job, though. The rest is the ordinary business of living somewhere. Residents choose when to get up, where to sit, what they want to eat and whether they want company or quiet. Rooms are people's own space, and visitors come when it suits them. Nobody is moved along to fit a schedule. We should be plain about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with our team and those areas are where our attention sits at present, and we would far rather tell you ourselves than have you learn it elsewhere. Anyone considering Marlborough House is welcome to visit on an ordinary day and ask us about it directly.
