About Scarlet House
Scarlet House is a nursing home in Stroud, Gloucestershire. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs and people with physical disabilities. We take respite admissions alongside permanent places. Having qualified nurses on site around the clock means we can look after people whose health needs are significant or changing without them having to move somewhere else when things alter. That covers managing long term conditions, support after hospital, pressure care and care towards the end of life given properly and unhurriedly. Alongside that we try to hold on to the ordinary things, because they are what people actually live on. Being up, dressed and comfortable. Food worth eating. Somebody to talk to. A day with some shape to it. For residents living with dementia we keep the environment calm, routines familiar and staffing as steady as we can, and we spend time learning each person's history so that we can respond well when words are difficult. Where we support residents with mental health needs, we work closely with the community teams involved and aim above all to be predictable, which is usually what helps most. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome at Scarlet House at any reasonable hour, and we would much rather be told about a concern straight away than weeks later.
