About The Hollies Nursing Home

The Hollies Nursing Home is in Dursley, Gloucestershire. Having qualified nurses on duty means we can care for people whose health needs go beyond what a residential home can safely manage, and it usually means somebody can stay with us as their needs increase rather than facing another move at the hardest possible time. We care for older people who need nursing support, including many who are living with dementia. Respite stays are available for people needing nursing care for a limited period or whose family carer needs a proper break. Clinically we concentrate on what makes the greatest difference: medication given correctly, skin integrity, nutrition and hydration, pain managed properly, safe moving and handling, and acting early when a condition alters. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole home, from how we speak to people through to how calm the afternoons are and how we respond when somebody is distressed and wants to go home. We work closely with the GP practice and the community health teams who support us. The rest of the job is making this a good place to live. Residents keep their own rooms and their own belongings, choose when to get up and what to eat, and can have company or quiet as they prefer. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour. We are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Please arrange to visit.
