About Horkesley Manor
Horkesley Manor in Colchester is a nursing home caring for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing support, including residents living with dementia and residents with a physical disability. Nurses are on site at every hour, which means people can stay with us as their health changes rather than facing another move when they are least able to cope with one. The clinical work is done carefully. Medication managed properly, pain kept under control, skin and nutrition watched, and other health professionals involved early rather than at the last minute. Beyond that, our job is to make the day worth having. Flexible mornings, meals people look forward to, company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and support with personal care given at a pace set by the resident rather than the rota. We want to be straight with you about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather tell you ourselves and answer your questions than have you learn it elsewhere, and putting it right is where our attention is going. We also offer respite care, which families use to cover a break from caring or to provide nursing support for a few weeks after a hospital stay. Visitors are welcome and we encourage families to stay closely involved.
