Safe
Inspectors found that training, policy guidance and safe systems of work reduced the risk of people being harmed. Staff understood how to keep people safe and how to report concerns. Medicines were given safely by competent staff.
Effective
Inspectors found that care plans helped staff meet people's needs and were reviewed and updated. Referrals were made to outside agencies when needed, such as GPs, community nurses and speech and language therapists. People's nutritional needs were monitored and reviewed, and people had a choice of meals.
Caring
Inspectors found that staff treated people with respect and kindness. Staff supported people with their mobility and encouraged them to stay active. People were involved in planning their care.
Responsive
Inspectors found that activities were under review, because it was known that improvements were needed. End of life care planning and documentation guided staff in providing care. Complaints were taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
Well-led
Inspectors found that regular quality audits were completed. They also found improvements were needed in how pressure relieving equipment was managed, so it was always correctly set. Improvements were also needed in medicine record keeping. Inspectors considered the risk and impact on people to be reduced. The manager accepted these were areas for improvement and put them right straight away.

People told inspectors they experienced safe care. People said the home was clean and tidy, and relatives had no concerns about cleanliness.
