About Claydon House
Here at Claydon House, we provide nursing home care for older people in the heart of Lewes, East Sussex. We are a small, close knit community and we take genuine pride in knowing each of our residents as individuals, understanding their histories, their preferences and what makes a good day for them. Our team supports people with a range of needs, including nursing care, dementia care and respite care. Whether someone comes to us for a short stay to recover or to recharge, or whether Claydon House becomes their long term home, we aim to make sure they feel settled, respected and genuinely looked after. Dementia care sits at the heart of a lot of what we do. We know how important it is for people living with dementia to feel calm and familiar in their surroundings, and we work hard to create an environment and a daily rhythm that supports that. Our staff take time to understand each person beyond their diagnosis, because who someone is matters far more than what their notes say. For families, we understand that choosing a nursing home for someone you love is not a straightforward decision. We welcome questions, visits and involvement. You should feel confident about where your relative is living, and we want to build the kind of trust where you feel comfortable picking up the phone at any time. Lewes itself is a wonderful town and we feel fortunate to be part of such a distinctive local community. We try to bring that community feeling inside as much as possible, keeping life interesting and meaningful for everyone who lives here.
