About Martin House
Martin House is a nursing home in Southall. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite and short stays. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours, which means complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life are managed here rather than requiring somebody to move again. It also means changes in a resident's health are noticed by people who know them. Southall is home to many communities and many languages, and that shapes how we work. Food, faith, festivals and the language somebody is most comfortable in are not details to us. They are a large part of whether a person feels at home, particularly for residents living with dementia, who often return to the language they grew up speaking. We try to staff and cook accordingly. For residents living with dementia we keep the day steady and unhurried and we learn what reassures a particular person. Families are welcome through the day and we make room for relatives to stay when somebody is nearing the end of life, planning openly with everyone involved. The nursing is the foundation rather than the purpose. People live here, and we would rather be judged on whether their days are good ones. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the home and talk to the people in it.
