About The Harry Care Home

We are The Harry Care Home, a nursing home in Bideford on the north Devon coast. We provide nursing care for older people, and we also welcome younger adults whose needs are better met in a setting where qualified nurses are on hand at every hour of the day and night. Our team supports people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays for families who need a short break, or who want to see how life here feels before making a longer commitment. Nursing care can sound clinical, so we work hard to keep the feel of a home rather than a ward. People choose when they get up, what they eat and how they spend the day. We take time to learn what matters to each person, from a particular chair by the window to a preference for tea rather than coffee, and we build that into the way we work rather than leaving it to chance. Families are part of daily life here. Visitors are welcome, we keep relatives informed when someone's health changes, and we say plainly if something has gone wrong and what we are doing to put it right. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. We are glad to talk through our approach, show you around and answer whatever you want to ask.
