About Woodlands Nursing Home
We are Woodlands Nursing Home in Ripley, Derbyshire. We provide nursing care for older people, including many people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people who need nursing support for a short period. Registered nurses are on duty here throughout the day and night. A nursing home has to be two things at once. It has to be clinically careful, with medicines properly managed, skin and mobility watched closely, eating and drinking encouraged and pain treated rather than tolerated. It also has to be somewhere a person would not mind living. We take both halves seriously, and we think the second half is where many homes quietly fall short. So people here keep their own routines and their own things. Rooms are personalised, days are unhurried, and there is no expectation that anyone joins in with anything. Families visit when they like and are welcome to be as involved in care as suits them. We work closely with local GPs, district nurses and specialist teams across Derbyshire so that changes in someone's health are picked up early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as a floor rather than an achievement and keep auditing our own practice. If you are weighing up nursing care in the Ripley area, please come and see us and take your time deciding.
