About Harbour View

We are Harbour View, a nursing home in Whitehaven. We care for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs, and many of those living with us are living with dementia. Qualified nurses are on duty around the clock. That is what allows us to support people whose health is complex or liable to change, and it means families are not left wondering what cover exists once the office has closed. Changes are noticed early by staff who know the person rather than at the next visit from outside. The clinical side matters but it is not the point of the place. People live here, and we work at making that a life rather than a regime. Rooms are personalised, people get up and settle at night when they choose, and meals are something to enjoy. Staff take time to learn who somebody was before they needed care. For those living with dementia we work patiently and with the person's history in view. We do not correct or reorient. We find what works for someone on a given day and go with it. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come and we keep them properly informed when anything changes. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit.
