About Care Home
Peterlee Care Home is a nursing home in Peterlee, County Durham. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Supporting that range of need in one home works only if the care is genuinely individual. A younger adult with a learning disability who wants to get out and do things has little in common with an older person in the later stages of dementia, and treating them as variations of the same task fails both. We plan with each person separately. Nurses are on duty at every hour, so medication, skin care, nutrition, pain and mobility are managed here and changes in health are noticed early. Where people do not use speech, we learn how each person communicates, because pain is often expressed through behaviour rather than words. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round if you are considering a placement here.
