About Brockwell Court
Brockwell Court is a nursing home in Consett, County Durham. We look after older people whose health needs go beyond what residential care can offer, along with younger adults who need nursing support, and we take respite stays when a family needs cover for a while. Having qualified nurses on duty around the clock changes what is possible here. Wounds, catheters, diabetes, medication that needs watching closely, conditions that fluctuate from one day to the next: these are managed on site by people who know the resident, rather than through a series of appointments elsewhere. We work alongside GPs, district nurses and hospital teams, and we are usually the ones who notice early that something is not quite right. Dementia care is a large part of what we do, and we approach it as care for a person rather than management of a condition. Knowing that someone was a joiner, or sang in a choir, or always took their tea strong and early, is practical information in our hands. Days here are unhurried. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, and spend their time as they choose. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would far rather have relatives involved in decisions than kept politely at arm's length. Do get in touch if you would like to look round.
