About Trelana
Trelana is a nursing home in Bude, Cornwall, with registered nurses on duty around the clock alongside our care team. We care for people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, and people living with mental health conditions. Having nursing on site means health needs can be met here rather than requiring somebody to move again when their condition changes. The nursing covers management of long term conditions, wound and skin care, continence support, help where eating and swallowing have become difficult, and careful oversight of medication. We work with local GPs, district nurses and therapy teams and ask for specialist input early. What we work at avoiding is letting the clinical side take over the day. The best parts of a week here are usually the least medical ones: a visit from family, a conversation that runs on longer than it needed to, a turn round the garden when the weather allows, and in Cornwall the weather does occasionally allow. For people living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and visitors are welcome.
