About Coloma Court Care Home
We are Coloma Court Care Home, a nursing home in West Wickham in the London Borough of Bromley. We care for older people and for younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, and we also take respite bookings for shorter stays. Having qualified nurses on site at all hours shapes everything else we do. It means we can look after people whose health needs are complex or likely to change, keep proper clinical oversight of conditions that need watching, and support people towards the end of life without asking them to move somewhere unfamiliar. It also means a relative with a clinical question can put it to someone who knows the person well and can answer it properly. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We try to understand the person rather than the diagnosis, which usually means learning someone's history, their routines and the things that settle or unsettle them, and then building the day around that instead of expecting them to fit our timetable. Families often tell us more in the first week than any assessment form captures, so we ask and we listen. Respite guests are treated no differently from anyone else living here. They get the same assessment, the same care planning and the same welcome, however long they are staying. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that, though what matters more to us is the day the rating describes being an ordinary day here rather than an unusual one.
