About Waltham House
Waltham House is a nursing home in Bristol providing nursing care for older people and for younger adults whose health needs mean qualified nurses should be on hand at any hour. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. People arrive here in very different circumstances. Some come from hospital after a serious illness, some have reached the point where managing at home is no longer safe, and some come for a few weeks while a family carer takes a break. What everybody gets is the same, which is proper clinical care and a home where the day belongs to the person living it. Our nurses look after medication, wounds, continence, pain relief and long term conditions, working alongside local GPs, community nurses and therapists. Where somebody is approaching the end of their life we concentrate on comfort and dignity, and on making sure families know what is happening and feel supported through it. Away from the clinical side we pay attention to the ordinary things. Meals people actually want to eat, a chance to get outside, visitors made welcome without ceremony, and staff who have the time to sit and talk. Those things sound small written down, but they are what makes a place liveable. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You would be welcome to visit, meet the nursing team and see how the home runs before making any decision.
