About Hillbro Nursing Home
We are Hillbro Nursing Home in Shipley, providing nursing care for older people, including people living with dementia and people living with mental ill health. Registered nurses are on duty around the clock, which means wound care, medication, complex health needs and the everyday monitoring that stops small problems becoming serious ones are handled here by people who see each person daily. Having clinical care on site does not mean life here feels clinical. People keep their own rooms and their own belongings, the routines that matter carry on, and the day is built around what individuals want to do rather than around what suits the rota. For those living with dementia we pay close attention to familiar faces, familiar objects and a steady rhythm, and we take time to learn a life history so that reassurance rests on something a person actually recognises. We also offer respite care, which suits families needing a planned break and people recovering after a spell in hospital who are not quite ready to go straight home. We prepare for short stays properly so nobody arrives feeling like a stranger. Moving into a nursing home is rarely anybody's first choice, and we would rather acknowledge that than pretend otherwise. What we can do is make it feel less like an ending. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Relatives and friends are welcome, and we would encourage anyone considering Hillbro to visit and judge for themselves.
