About Queensmount Care Home
Queensmount Care Home is a nursing home in Bournemouth. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs and we offer respite and short stays. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours. That means complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life are looked after here rather than through repeated journeys to hospital, and it means somebody notices early when a resident is becoming unwell rather than once it is obvious. The nursing is the foundation rather than the purpose. Our residents live here, and we would rather be judged on whether their days are good ones. That means food people actually want to eat, time to talk, familiar routines, music, the garden, visitors welcome whenever they come, and staff who are not too busy to sit down. We ask at the outset how a person has always liked their day to run, from what time they wake to how they take their tea and what they cannot abide, and we write it down so that everybody working here knows it rather than only whoever carried out the assessment. Where a resident is nearing the end of life we plan openly with them and their family, keep them comfortable and make room for relatives to stay as long as they want. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and clear that it describes how we were found rather than a permanent state of affairs, so we keep working at it. Please come and see us.
