About Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home
We are Abbotsleigh Mews, a nursing home in Sidcup caring for older people, including many who are living with dementia. Our nurses are here around the clock, so someone qualified is always on hand if a person becomes unwell, and changes in health get noticed early rather than late. We have tried to build the home around ordinary life rather than around a clinical routine. People rise when they are ready, have their meals where and when they prefer, and spend their days as they wish. Some like the busy end of the home and the conversation that comes with it, others would rather sit quietly with a book or the television, and neither needs justifying. Dementia care takes patience and knowledge of the person, so we spend time learning people's histories and the routines that steady them. We do not correct or argue. We find what works for someone on a given day and we go with it. Families matter to how well this works. We keep relatives informed, we ring early when we are concerned about something, and visitors are welcome whenever they want to come rather than at set hours. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places, which suits families needing a break and people who need support while recovering after hospital. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to arrange a look around.
