About Caring Hands
Caring Hands supports people in their own homes in Horsham and the surrounding part of West Sussex. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, sensory loss and eating disorders. We assess at home, with whoever the person wants present, and the conversation is as much about what somebody intends to keep doing for themselves as about what they need from us. The plan is agreed rather than issued and it changes when circumstances do. Support may be a single short call each day, visits at several points for personal care, medication, meals and company, or longer stretches for somebody who should not be alone. Across that spread of needs, training is a practical matter. A carer supporting an autistic person, one supporting somebody in the later stages of dementia and one supporting somebody with an eating disorder each need different knowledge, and ours have it before they go out. We hold onto continuity as firmly as the rota allows, because familiarity does more for confidence than any amount of paperwork, and we tell people in advance when a new carer is coming. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
