- First assessment of the service
Safe
Inspectors found that people were protected from abuse and harm by staff who were trained and knew what to do if they had concerns. Risks to people were identified and assessed, and staff had guidance on what to do, which they followed. New staff were recruited safely, and medicines were handled safely.
Effective
Inspectors found that the registered manager assessed each person's needs before support began, and needs were reviewed regularly. Staff had training relevant to their roles and regular supervision from the registered manager. Staff helped people to eat and drink in a healthy way, and people received support from community nurses, GPs and other professionals.
Caring
Inspectors found that people told them staff were kind. People were treated with dignity and respect. People's diverse needs were identified and catered for, and care was personalised to their preferences.
Responsive
Inspectors found that care plans were drawn up with people and their relatives. They gave detailed information about people's personal histories, care and support needs, and staff followed them. People's communication needs were identified so staff could communicate in a way that suited them. No complaints had been received at the time of the inspection.
Well-led
Inspectors found that a range of audits was in place to monitor the quality of the service and to drive improvement. Staff felt supported by the registered manager, who had regular contact with the provider. The registered manager gathered feedback at regular reviews, and the service worked in partnership with others.
What people told the inspectors
People told inspectors that staff were rarely late for visits and that they would be told if staff were going to be late. People and their relatives spoke highly of the service, the registered manager and the support staff.
