We think the best care is the sort that keeps somebody in their own front room, with their own routines intact, for as long as that is safe and right for them. Much of our work is with older adults who need help with personal care, medication, meals or getting safely about the house, and with those who mainly need reliable company and a watchful eye. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face arriving at a familiar time is worth more than any amount of activity, and people with physical disabilities, helping with washing, dressing, mobility and getting out into the world. We also support people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate so that nobody is spoken about rather than spoken to, and younger adults, whose support is built around work, study, family and independence. We put real effort into sending the same small group of workers to each person, because continuity is what turns a visit into a relationship and what allows our staff to notice changes early.
