About Mooncare (Domiciliary Agency)
Mooncare provides support to adults in their own homes in Tower Hamlets and the surrounding area. We work with younger adults, adults with learning disabilities and autism, and people with physical disabilities. The principle behind what we do is simple. It is the person's home and the person's life, and our role is to provide the support that makes it workable while leaving as much as possible in their hands. In practice that means help with personal care and medicines where it is needed, and a good deal of time spent on the skills and routines that living independently asks for: cooking, shopping, managing money, keeping on top of letters and appointments, using transport, and dealing with the things that go wrong in any household. It also means support to have a life. Seeing family and friends, getting to work, college, groups or activities, and making the ordinary decisions other adults take for granted. Where somebody communicates in their own way, we learn it rather than expecting them to adapt to us. Where somebody has a physical disability, we agree together how they want to be helped. Where the day needs to be predictable, we keep it predictable and prepare properly for changes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support whether we are getting it right.
