About DCI Care

DCI Care provides care and support to people in their own homes in Torquay and across Torbay. We support older people, including many living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who want support to live more independently. Most people would rather stay where they are. Their own bed, their own kitchen, their own front door. Our job is to make that workable for as long as it sensibly can be, and to be straight with families when it is becoming harder. We start by asking what is genuinely difficult and what someone still manages perfectly well, because good support builds on what is already there. From that we agree the visits and the tasks. They might cover help with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, meals and drinks, moving safely around the home, laundry and shopping, or getting to appointments and out into the town. Dementia support is a large part of our work here. That means arriving calmly, keeping to routines that make sense to the person, not rushing anybody, and paying attention to the small changes that tell you something is shifting. Continuity matters more than almost anything else in home care, so we work hard to send the same familiar faces to the same households and to arrive when we said we would. We keep in touch with families, GPs, district nurses and social workers so that concerns are raised early. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support.
