About Optimist Care
Optimist Care provides support at home to adults in Grays and across Thurrock. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, adults living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults who need support to live independently. Our visits cover personal care given without rushing, prompting and support with medication, meals, laundry, shopping and help to get out to appointments or simply out for a change of scene. Some people need half an hour first thing and nothing more. Others need several longer calls a day, and needs shift over time, so we review arrangements honestly rather than letting a plan go stale. Two things take up most of our attention. One is arriving when we said we would, because a visit at an unpredictable hour causes more anxiety than it relieves. The other is continuity, because a carer who already knows somebody is the one who will spot that they are eating less or seeming muddled this week, and that noticing is often what keeps people out of hospital.
