About Active Care Group Supported Services
We support people in their own homes and in supported housing in Caterham and across Surrey. Those we work with include older adults, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. A good deal of our work is with people whose needs are genuinely complex, often following a serious injury or a significant change in health. That kind of support has to be properly planned and properly staffed rather than assembled week by week, so we train specifically for the person rather than in general. Where somebody's life changed suddenly rather than gradually, we try to remember they have not reached the end of anything. There are plans, relationships and opinions, and the worst thing a care arrangement can do is quietly treat somebody as a patient whose life is now their care. So we support what a person can still do themselves and resist the drift towards doing everything because it is faster. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that openly. Families are welcome to ask how we recruit, train and supervise our staff.
