About Ascending Heights
Ascending Heights supports people in their own homes across Burton on Trent and the surrounding parts of Staffordshire. We work with older people, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with visual or hearing impairments and younger adults. Our name reflects what we are trying to do. Support should open up what is possible for someone rather than narrow their life down to whatever is easiest to arrange. So we begin with the person: what their week actually looks like, what they want to change and what they would rather we left well alone. Support can be a few hours weekly or substantial daily help, covering personal care, medication, cooking, shopping, budgeting, appointments, travel and getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to be. We look for ways to build skills rather than take tasks over, because confidence grows through practice. For autistic adults and people with learning disabilities we pay close attention to predictability, communication and sensory needs. For people with sensory impairments we adapt how we communicate rather than expecting anyone to adapt to us. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Whether you are arranging support for yourself, for a relative or for someone you work with professionally, we are happy to meet, listen properly and set out honestly what we could offer and how it would work in practice.
