About Apra Care Hampshire
Apra Care Hampshire provides home care to people in Southampton and the surrounding area. We support older people, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Home care is a series of short windows in someone's day, and whether those windows help or intrude comes down almost entirely to the person who arrives and how well they know the household. That is where we put our effort. Before any package starts we sit down with the person and whoever they want present, and we ask the things that referral forms never cover. What do you still want to do for yourself. What time does your medication really need to be taken. What makes a morning go badly. Who should we ring if something changes. Then we build the visits around those answers and keep the same faces going wherever the rota allows. Where sight or hearing is poor, we adapt how we communicate rather than assuming it is fine. Our carers are trained for the conditions they will meet and senior staff are reachable during visits. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would ask people to judge us on how we answer the phone and how we turn up.
