About Rubies
We are Rubies, a home care agency in Rotherham. We support people in their own homes, working with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. The people we visit want the same thing for very different reasons, which is to stay in the home they already have. What makes that possible varies enormously, so we start with the person and not with a list of what we provide. An older person finding the mornings hard needs something quite unlike a younger adult who is building a working life around their support, and running both through the same template serves neither. Continuity is where we put most of our effort. The same carers going to the same households is harder to arrange than people assume and it improves care more than anything else. A carer who knows somebody notices when they are not themselves, and that early notice is often what prevents a crisis. We keep families informed, work alongside other professionals involved, and review arrangements as needs change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
