The reason we do this work at home is straightforward. Familiar surroundings hold a great deal together, and most people, given decent support, can stay where they are for far longer than they expect to. Our job is to provide enough help to make that safe and comfortable without letting care take over a life that is otherwise working. Support is planned from a conversation at home rather than from a form. We ask about the practical shape of the day, what you would rather keep managing yourself, and what you would happily hand over. Then we agree the plan, put a small consistent team around it, and change it when your circumstances change instead of at a date fixed in advance. We are careful about the things that cause real harm in home care: late or missed visits, rushed personal care, medication errors, and information that does not get passed on. The Care Quality Commission has not yet issued us an overall rating. Until it does, we are content to be judged on the detail we go into.
