For most of the older people we see, the entire point of us is that they stay in the house they know rather than move. For younger adults and for people with a learning disability, our job is usually to make independence workable rather than to take things over. We start with a conversation and not a form. What can you still manage. What has become difficult. What would you rather we left well alone. From that we agree a plan, write it in language the person can read, and revise it when things change. Where somebody takes in information differently, we slow down, explain before we act, and check rather than assume. Where a physical disability is involved, the work is often about equipment, patience and allowing time for a person to do a thing themselves rather than doing it for them because it is quicker. We are a newer agency and have not yet had a full inspection by the Care Quality Commission, so there is no rating to show you. Ring us and judge us on the visit.
