About Guardian Homecare (Greenbrook House)

We are a home care team based at Greenbrook House in Rochdale, supporting people in their own homes across the area. Those we visit include older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We put most of our effort into two things: sending people worth sending, and then keeping them. Turnover is the quiet enemy of good home care. Every time a carer leaves, somebody has to explain their routine again to a stranger, and the person receiving care pays for a problem they had no part in creating. So we try to be an employer people stay with, because that is what produces the continuity families actually want. Beyond that, the work is practical. Washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, and keeping a household from getting on top of somebody. Where a person can still do something themselves we support them to keep doing it, even when it would be faster to take over. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we visit how we are doing, and the useful answers are nearly always the small critical ones rather than the kind general ones.
