Guardian Homecare at The Courtyards provides care and support to people in their own homes in Preston and the surrounding area. We work with older people and people living with dementia, with people who have mental health needs, physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, with younger adults and with people affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Each package is planned around the person rather than offered from a list. Some people want a short call in the morning to help with washing, dressing and medication so the day starts safely. Where somebody is working on their relationship with alcohol or drugs, we support the plan they have chosen rather than lecture them about it. We visit before anything begins, agree the plan with the person and anyone they want present, write it in plain words and review it as circumstances change. We say honestly when more support is needed than can safely be provided at home. Keeping the same carers going into the same households is something we work at properly.
