About Key2Support

Key2Support works with adults in their own homes in Oswaldtwistle and the surrounding parts of Lancashire. Our work is with people who have a learning disability and with autistic adults. We start from the view that the home belongs to the person and we are there because we are wanted, not because we run the place. So we look first at what somebody already does well and build support around the rest. That might mean help with personal care, managing medication, keeping on top of shopping, bills and a household, or somebody alongside a person while they get out to work, college or an activity. Where a person communicates differently, we learn how before we start, whether that is signing, symbols, objects or something particular to them. Getting that right at the beginning is a matter of respect as much as practicality, and it saves a great deal of frustration later. Plans are agreed with the person in a form they can genuinely use, not written about them and filed away. We review them as life moves on, and we work alongside families, social workers and health teams so nobody has to keep repeating themselves.
