About Specialist Care Team Domiciliary Office

The Specialist Care Team supports adults in their own homes in Morecambe and the surrounding parts of Lancashire. Our work is with people whose needs are particular enough to call for staff trained for them specifically rather than a general service. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, where the work is often about independence: cooking, shopping, managing money and appointments, using local transport, keeping a job or a course going, and having staff who understand how somebody communicates and what makes a day difficult. We support adults with mental health needs, where reliability and a calm manner do most of the good, and people with a physical disability, helping with safe moving and with managing at home as independently as possible. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and take care not to move things without saying so. Many of the people we support are younger adults, so we plan around study, work and social life rather than around our rota. We take time to get to know a person before making plans, and we involve the people who matter to them where that is wanted. Support is reviewed as things change.
