About Creative Support - & Wigan Services
We provide support to people in their own homes across Chorley and Wigan. Our work is with adults who have a learning disability, adults on the autistic spectrum, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. The aim throughout is to help people live the life they have chosen in the place they have chosen to live it. In practice that means support with personal care where it is wanted, with medication, with cooking and shopping, with managing money and appointments, with using local transport, and with keeping up the relationships and interests that matter. Where somebody can do something themselves, our part is to make that possible rather than to take it over. Communication is central to this work. People tell us what they want and how they are feeling in very different ways, and we put in the time to learn each person's way so that decisions genuinely belong to them rather than being made on their behalf. Consistency is the other thing we work hardest at. Familiar support workers, turning up when they said they would, without fuss and without judgement, does more good over time than any amount of good intention. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would be glad to talk with anyone considering support in this area.
