We are a home care agency in Lambeth, visiting people in their own homes across the borough and nearby parts of south London. Most of the people we support are older adults, and a good number are living with dementia. We also visit people with a physical disability and younger adults. What people come to us for is practical and immediate. Help getting up, washed and dressed. Medicines prompted or given. A hot meal. Help to move safely about the home, sometimes with equipment. Shopping and laundry. Somebody noticing quietly whether things are getting worse. Inner London brings its own difficulties. Flats above shops, lifts that fail, stairs that were nothing twenty years ago, and households where somebody can genuinely be alone for days. We plan around the building and the street as they actually are rather than an idealised version. Where dementia is involved we take our lead from the household, because the family already knows the triggers, the words that work and the hour of the day that is hard. We would much rather be told than find out slowly by getting it wrong. We have not yet had a full inspection by the Care Quality Commission, so there is no overall rating to point you at.
