About Chinese Community Association
We are the Lambeth Chinese Community Association, and alongside our wider community work we provide care in people's own homes across Lambeth. We support older people, including many living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, and people with physical disabilities. Our roots are in the community we serve, and that shapes what we do. For many of the people we visit, care that understands their language, their food and their customs is not a small preference but the difference between accepting help and refusing it. Growing older a long way from where you grew up can be isolating, and we try to make our support something familiar rather than something foreign arriving at the door. The practical work is much like any home care. Help with washing and dressing, a prompt and a check with medication, meals, help getting safely about the house, and a hand with shopping and appointments. We agree the support with the person and their family first, and we adjust it as needs change. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have looked carefully at what was raised and those areas are where our effort is concentrated now.
