We are Alma Care, a home care provider based in Batley and supporting people in their own homes across Kirklees. We work with a wide range of people: older residents, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or who are autistic, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults building independent lives. That breadth means we spend real time at the outset working out what a particular person wants from us, because a package that suits one household would be entirely wrong for another. Support can be as light as a daily call and a hand with breakfast, or as substantial as several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals, laundry and help getting out of the house. Wherever someone can still do something for themselves, we support them to keep doing it rather than quietly taking it over. We try to send the same carers to the same people. It makes the care better and it makes it far easier for someone to say when something is wrong. Our carers are trained for the specific work they do, they are properly supervised, and the office is reachable when a family needs to speak to somebody.
