About Green Care Services
Green Care supports people in their own homes in Feltham and across the borough of Hounslow, working with older people, adults living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, adults with mental health needs, people affected by eating disorders and younger adults. We begin with a conversation about how a person actually lives, because the same diagnosis can mean two entirely different sorts of help. For one person that is a call first thing so washing, dressing and breakfast are manageable. For another it is support with medication, meals, shopping and laundry, help getting to appointments, or longer visits that give a family carer a proper break. For a younger adult it is often the practical support that makes work, study, friendships and independence possible. We try to send the same small group of carers to each person, because familiarity builds confidence in a way that no plan can, and that matters particularly for anyone living with dementia, with anxiety or with a difficult relationship with food. Our carers are asked to work without judgement and to notice things. If somebody is eating less, sleeping badly, withdrawing or seeming unsteady, we want to hear about it and we will raise it with the family and with health professionals where that is appropriate. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The better test is whether people feel able to tell us when something is wrong, and we ask for that feedback regularly.
