About Treal Care UK
Treal Care UK supports people in their own homes across Hornchurch and the wider borough of Havering. Our work covers a broad range. Most of it is with older adults, a good number living with dementia. We also support people with a learning disability, autistic people, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing, and people living with an eating disorder. Taking on that range means being careful about who we send rather than simply filling a rota. Supporting somebody with an eating disorder calls for steadiness rather than opinion, and for the judgement to know when a situation needs somebody with different training. Supporting an older woman with advanced dementia calls for something else again. We recruit and supervise with those differences in mind and we say plainly when something is beyond us. The practical work is consistent throughout. Washing and dressing, medicines, meals, housework, shopping, appointments, getting out of the house, and somebody noticing quietly whether things are going downhill. We try hard to send the same small group of workers to each person, because being recognised at the door is worth more than any written procedure.
