About Hemby
Hemby London supports adults in their own homes in Hackney and the surrounding area. We visit older people and younger adults who need help with the practical parts of daily life. We keep what we do straightforward. A visit might mean help to get up, washed and dressed in the morning, support with medication, a meal made properly, the shopping and laundry sorted out, or company and a hand getting to an appointment. For some of the people we visit the greatest value is simply that somebody reliable turns up, notices how things are and has time for a proper conversation. We plan our rounds so that the same carers go to the same homes. Nobody wants a stream of different faces in their kitchen, and familiar staff know what normal looks like for a person and speak up when it changes. Very often that is what stops a small difficulty becoming something serious. We agree what is needed with the person and whoever they want involved, put it in plain writing and change it when circumstances change rather than waiting for a scheduled review. We keep families informed, particularly those who live too far away to call in, and we raise concerns early. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather tell you that openly. In the meantime we are happy to explain how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, and to answer any question before you decide anything.
