About New Charlton Community Centre
We are a care team based at the community centre in Charlton, supporting people in their own homes across Greenwich. Those we visit include older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. Being rooted in the community we serve is the practical heart of this. We know the estates and the streets, we know how long a journey really takes, and we can be where we said we would be, which is what families judge us on above everything else. Our work covers washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and keeping a household ticking over, together with the company a regular caller brings. For some of the people we visit ours is the only knock at the door that day. We aim our help at what has genuinely become hard and leave alone what somebody would rather keep managing themselves, because kindness is how independence usually gets eroded. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we visit how we are doing and act on the critical answers rather than the polite ones.
