CQC rated this area Requires improvement. The service had enough staff and adequate pre-employment checks, and staff had relevant training. Inspectors found no errors in medicines for people receiving personal care. However, inspectors had concerns about the integrity of a fire door leading into a corridor that would act as an escape route, and the environment was tired and in need of decoration.
Effective
Staff could reach important information about people's care needs using portable devices. The service was moving from paper to electronic care plans and risk assessments.
Caring
People told inspectors staff were friendly and helpful. People said they were treated with dignity and respect.
Responsive
People were involved in planning, creating and reviewing their care plans and risk assessments. The service worked with a wide range of community services to provide activities for people to attend.
Well-led
CQC rated this area Requires improvement. The service was in breach of the legal regulation on good governance. CQC asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found. The service had a range of policies and procedures for staff to follow.
