About Holderness Home Care

Holderness Home Care supports people in their own homes in Hull and across the East Riding. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. We assess at home with the person and whoever they want present, and the conversation is as much about what somebody intends to keep doing for themselves as about what they need from us. The plan is agreed rather than issued and it changes when circumstances change. Support may be a single short call each day, several visits for personal care, medication, meals and company, or longer stretches for somebody who should not be alone for long. In a spread out rural area, continuity takes planning rather than good intentions. We keep rounds tight enough that the same carers can return to the same people and that visits are long enough to be worth having, rather than racing between villages with fifteen minutes to spare. Where somebody is living with dementia we pay close attention to timing and familiarity. Where there is sensory loss we think about lighting, contrast and hearing aids that have actually been checked. Our carers are trained for the needs they meet, checked before they visit anybody, and supervised rather than left to manage alone. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
