We are Lumiere Homes, a home care provider working in Stourbridge and across the Dudley area. We support older people, adults living with dementia and younger adults in their own homes, for as long as home is where they want to be. We think good home care is mostly made of small reliable things. Arriving when we said we would. Knowing how somebody takes their tea. Remembering that the back door sticks and that the cat needs letting out. Noticing that the post has not been opened for three days. None of that appears in a care plan, and all of it is the difference between a service and someone actually being looked after. Practically, we help with personal care, medication, meals, getting up and settling at night, keeping the house in order and getting out and about. For people living with dementia we work hard at consistency, keeping the same familiar carers visiting and following the routines that already work in that household. Familiar faces and familiar order reduce anxiety far more effectively than anything we could introduce. We also see ourselves as support for the whole family. Relatives who are doing most of the caring often need someone honest to talk to about what is coming next, and we try to be that as well. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. We are open about that and happy to discuss how we work, how we recruit and how we train before you decide anything.
