About Priority Home Care

Priority Home Care provides support in people's own homes in Wimborne and across Dorset. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment. Care at home is done on somebody else's territory, in their kitchen and their front room, to their standards rather than ours. We think that is a privilege and we recruit with it in mind. Skills can be taught; turning up reliably, being decent company and treating somebody's home with respect are harder to instil. Support can be a short morning call to help somebody wash, dress and get going safely, or several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals, mobility, shopping and a check in the evening. Before anything starts we spend proper time working out what would genuinely help and what a person would rather manage themselves. For people living with dementia we keep the same small team going into the same home at consistent times, because familiarity is worth more than almost anything else we could offer. Where somebody has a physical disability we learn how their equipment is used and how they prefer to be helped to move. Where there is a sensory impairment we adapt how we communicate and leave the home exactly as the person expects to find it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
