About Walsingham Support - Supported Living West Cumbria

Walsingham Support provides supported living in west Cumbria, working with people in their own homes and tenancies from our base in Workington. We support older people, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. We would rather be straight with you from the start. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are not going to write around that. The findings were taken seriously, there is an improvement plan we are working through, and if you are considering us you should ask directly what has changed and what is still outstanding. You will get a plain answer. What we are trying to do has not changed. Our aim is to make independent living genuinely workable rather than nominally available, which means helping with whichever parts of somebody's week have become unmanageable and deliberately not taking over the parts that have not. For some people the work is personal care, medication and making the day run safely. For others it is somebody alongside them at college, at work or on the bus. Consistency carries enormous weight in both. Improvement comes from listening to the people we support and then acting rather than recording.
