About Firstpoint Homecare
Firstpoint Homecare supports people in their own homes in Harpenden and the surrounding area. We take on a wide range of needs, from a short daily call to several visits a day and longer periods of support, and we agree the shape of it with the person rather than handing them a fixed service. For older people we help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, laundry, shopping and getting out to appointments or to see friends. We also notice the quieter changes and raise them early with the family or the doctor rather than waiting to be asked. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting wherever the rota allows, work with the routine that already exists and avoid rearranging a home somebody knows by heart. We support adults with mental health needs, where reliability matters more than anything written down, and people with a physical disability who need help to move safely. Where there is sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and always say who we are. We also support people living with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug dependency, working alongside the health professionals involved and without judgement.
