We visit at agreed times and help with whatever has become hard to manage, whether that is one short call a day or support spread across the week. Our carers help older people with washing and dressing, getting up and settling at night, medication, meals, shopping and housework. We support people living with dementia, people with a learning disability and autistic people, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults who want practical support to live independently. Where somebody is managing an eating disorder we work to the plan agreed with their clinical team, keeping mealtimes calm and predictable rather than a matter for negotiation. Two things decide whether home care works. Calls have to be long enough to be done properly, and the same carers have to keep coming. We build our rotas around both, because familiarity is what allows somebody to accept personal care with their dignity intact, and it is what lets a carer see that a person is not themselves this week. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Ask us instead about recruitment, training, supervision and out of hours contact, and we will answer directly.
