About Home Instead

Home Instead Cambridge supports adults in their own homes in Cambridge and the surrounding villages. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. We also support people with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse, where reliability and an absence of judgement matter more than anything else we could offer. Our visits cover personal care, medicines, meals, the household, shopping and getting out and about, arranged around the person's day rather than a rota. Some people want a short call each morning. Others need several visits, or longer stretches of support. Company is a legitimate reason for us to be there, and we treat it as such. Continuity is what makes home care work. Being helped to wash by somebody you have never met is genuinely difficult, and for anybody living with dementia an unfamiliar face can unsettle an entire morning. So we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change is unavoidable. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What sits behind it is unglamorous: arriving when we said we would, sending people who already know you, and training our care workers properly before they start.
